Directions for Use

Preparation :Simply add the concentrated dry powder contents of this package to water at a ratio of 20 g to 1 Imp gallon or 100 grams to 5 Imp gallons of water, and stir thoroughly.

Some particles may not dissolve completely, and this is normal. It will not affect the efficiency of the product. Stir occasionally during use to maintain its proper effectiveness. If using a sprayer, mix and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Stir well, and strain before putting the product into sprayer.

Application : Apply to bare, untreated or pressure treated wood. Apply solution with a brush, roller, sprayer, or by dipping. If using a sprayer, be sure to strain the solution before pouring into sprayer. Ensure that all wood surfaces have been completely covered by the product, especially end grains, fresh cuts, and open cracks.

Some types of wood surfaces will show no immediate visible change in colour. This is completely normal. After exposure to sun and rain the treatment will react with the wood and gradually change colour to a rich silvery patina.

Caution : Wood treated with LifeTime® is harmless to people, soil, plants, water and gardens. However, the dry powder concentrate is acidic and should be handled with care. Avoid inhalation and contact with eyes.

FAQ

Is the LifeTime treatment suitable for trail signs to avoid regular maintenance?

The LifeTime Wood Treatment product is ideal for this type of project: it can be used on all types of exterior wood species, as well as on various other projects such as docks, culverts, exterior siding, garden furniture, decks, gazebos, etc.

Do you need to apply the LifeTime product every year?

LifeTime Wood Treatment is a treatment that only needs to be applied once in a lifetime. No new application is required during the entire life of the initially treated wood. It is not necessary to apply a protective product on wood that has already been treated with LifeTime.

When will the wood to turn gray after treating a surface with LifeTime?

The time it takes for the wood to turn gray using the LifeTime Wood Treatment depends on several factors, such as the wood species, the orientation of the wood exposed to UV rays, and the color of the wood. In general, the wood graying process starts almost immediately after applying the product. However, it can take from a few months to a few years for the entire wood to turn completely gray, especially if it is minimally exposed to sunlight and rain.

Can dyes be added to the LifeTime treatment or can a stain be applied over it?

The LifeTime treatment is not a stain but a non-toxic wood treatment. Instead of sealing the wood, this treatment allows the wood to breathe and age naturally.

It is possible to apply colored wood stains over a LifeTime treatment, but commercial stains do not provide the accelerated aging function that is an essential characteristic of the LifeTime process. Therefore, using this type of stain is not particularly beneficial.

Although it is technically possible to add dyes or tinting pastes to LifeTime to achieve a stain effect, we do not recommend it due to the maintenance challenges of this coloring over time. The desired effect with LifeTime should be a natural coloration that varies in shades of gray depending on the wood species used.

In conclusion, the LifeTime treatment only requires a single initial application, followed by regular maintenance each year using a brush and water.

GREAT PRODUCT

TONY PIETRONIRO · Oct 23, 2022

We used this product on an outdoor Red Western Cedar pergola. It began showing the greying results we were looking for within 2 hours. In 12 hours the wood had greyed more, was dry and ready to handle. The people at Valhalco returned our calls within 24 hours, were helpful and pleasant. Also, the listing on the Ardec site , which named different woods, and their reaction to the product was helpful. Lastly, the product comes in a granular format. You mix what you need with water. No bad odour. Simple. What you don't use immediately can be kept in a container and use the next day. The unused grains can be stored for future use without concern for it spoiling. We are looking forward to the grey darkening even more, as it weathers.
